FLOAT

Float is about childhood memories, the sensation of floating before falling asleep, of having dreams and hopes. It’s about my young daughter questioning death and being upset that all the fun will end one day. It’s about not forgetting your dreams or your childhood, and continuing to find fun and enjoyment.

Words made with hand drawn letters are merged into one cloud like shape.

Each piece is made by press forming brass into 2 halves to create a hollow form. The item is then hand painted by Inca which results in each piece being unique. The pins are solid silver.

For more information about this project read this interview with the Goldsmiths’ Center for the 2024 Shine program.

The Float series is currently on display at the Gill Wing Gallery in London.
